Heritage Signage Restoration

These 'before and after' photographs show the loving restoration of the milage post and one of the four Midland Railway boundary markers at the station.

Mileage Post

Not so much the usual post but a more unusual plaque in our case.  The plaque is beneath bridge 91A, the bridge which carries Station Road, and indicates that it is 246 1/4 miles to London St. Pancras International, the old Midland Railway terminus in the Capital.

Midland Railway Boundary Markers

There are four of these markers on or near the station; the one below is at the eastern end of the Leeds bound platform.   These markers are Grade II Listed and date from around 1870.  They are constructed from flattened bullhead rail.
