FOBS Shortlisted for 2013 ACoRP Community Rail Awards
- August 2013

In June 2013, FOBS was nominated by Drew Haley, Client and Stakeholder Manager at Northern Rail, for three categories in this year's Community Rail Awards, following their contributions to the enhancement of Bentham Station over the past two years.

The Community Rail Awards were devised in 2005 so that the unsung

heroes and heroines of the community rail world would have their hard work and dedication publicly recognised and and rewarded. Now established as a significant annual event, the emphasis of the awards continues to be on rewarding excellence and promoting best practice in community rail development, recognising the ordinary people doing extraordinary things on behalf of the railway and the community.

FOBS has now been shortlisted in all three categories, which are,

2A - Community Art Schemes - 'Bentham Life', Paintings by Gill Barron
3B - Best Station Volunteers' Project - 'The FOBS Experience'
and
5 - Small Projects Award - £300 or less - 'FOBS Informs'

At the end of September, FOBS will be heading to the Awards Presentation Evening in Llandudno to find out the results.

Unbeknown to FOBS and thanks to a nomination via Community Rail Lancashire, there has also been a shortlisting for us in

category 9 - Outstanding Volunteer Contribution.
